All about the SAN JUAN DE LA COSTA: CHARMING LAND & SEA LANDSCAPES – FULL DAY.

Full Day Excursion to San Juan de la Costa Village, visiting Osorno city, and Maicolpue, Bahia Mansa and Pucatrihue beaches.
San Juan de la Costa village turns to be very interesting because of the history related to the Huilliches natives, the geography that permits to see the hardwood industry, logging process once we cross the Coastal mountain range and the beauty of the littoral, that combines beaches, coves, and viewing points.
Starting from Puerto Varas, we take the road to north, after one hour is our first stop at Osorno city, the second more important after Puerto Montt in the Lake District. The Main Square has the vivid southern style that you almost feel it in the air, and the principal economic activity is livestock and dairy products industry.
We leave Osorno going west to San Juan de la Costa, a village that has a strong Huilliche identity, showing us their culture by the wood sculptures, viewing points and handcraft.
The next place to visit is Maicolpue, 65 km away from Osorno, a beach where disembogues in to the sea the river of the same name, and during the summer receive the visitants of the whole Lake District and surroundings. Maicolpue means “Turtledove`s feather place”.
Now we continue the trip for another 20 minutes to arrive at Bahia Mansa, the bay has a pier that is very calm and according the stories about pirates, was a strategic place to hide from the impetuous Pacific Ocean.
Finally, and only a few minutes from Bahia Mansa is Pucatrihue, this coastal area of an unmatching beauty show to us from the start a privileged view to the Pacific Ocean and besides the delicious local gastronomy. This is a fisherman`s cove and a balneary, the name means “site located at steep place”.

Recommendations: Comfortable clothes and shoes, hat, sunblock, sunglasses and if it rains a water resistant jacket.
