  1. DAY 1 Grey Lake - Serrano Village

    2 HOURS TRANSFER / 28 KM PADDLING, 4-5 HRS

Your transfer will pick you up from your Puerto Natales hotel and drive you to Grey Lake in Torres del Paine National Park. By Grey Lake and surrounded by wilderness and views of Paine Grande and Grey Glacier, we’ll have a snack and listen to an introduction to kayaking safety and paddling techniques. The first leg of today’s journey takes us 1.5 hours down the lake and river, paddling through ice floes that have calved from Grey Glacier and been sculpted into almost postmodern shapes by the wind and sun. Leaving Grey Lake we’ll begin our descent of Grey River, which snakes through canyons bubbling with rapids and framed by steep rock faces. Accompanied by views of the imposing Paine Massif, we’ll paddle for 25 km down Grey River until it joins the Serrano River. After another 3-4 hours our first adventure ends at Serrano Village, where we’ll settle in and enjoy lunch and dinner.
Night in Chile Nativo Riverside Camp (BL-D).

  2. DAY 2 Serrano River - Last Hope Sound

    42 KM, 6-7 HRS PADDLING

After breakfast we’ll break camp and load the kayaks. Today we’ll cross into Bernardo O’Higgins National Park and reach the Last Hope Sound. Despite its rather foreboding name, the Sound is a peaceful, glacier-carved channel watched over by snowy Mount Balmaceda (2148 m). Our journey begins paddling down the Serrano River until the Serrano waterfall, where we’ll stop and carry our kayaks for about 50 meters. Having boarded once again we’ll continue along the river to Serrano Glacier, with shoreside lenga and cypress trees, and views of Tyndall Glacier and the Geike mountain range alongside us. Soon after, we’ll join the waters of the Last Hope Sound, where we’ll be rewarded by a beautiful view of Serrano Glacier and may see cormorants, sea lions, dolphins and shore birds.
    Night in Campsite (B-BL-D).

  3. DAY 3 Serrano Lagoon - Puerto Natales

3 KM, 1-2 HRS PADDLING / 3 HOURS BY BOAT

After breakfast we’ll carry the kayaks around 30 meters to Serrano Lagoon at the end point of Serrano Glacier. Our final kayaking experience is a morning’s paddling between the blue icebergs that have calved from the glacier.* At noon we’ll board a boat bound for Puerto Natales, traveling once again through the Last Hope Sound. We’ll make a stop at Estancia Perales for a Patagonian-style lamb barbecue lunch, and arrive at Puerto Natales around 6:00 pm.
    (B-BBQ).

*Sometimes access Serrano Lagoon can be blocked by ice. If this is the case, it won’t be possible to paddle.
