We will visit the first tourist observatory in the country located in the Mamalluca hills. It depends on the Municipal government of Vicuña and is recognised for offering basic astronomy programs to the general public.
The tour at the Mamalluca Observatory is divided into 3 parts:
-An introduction about astronomy and a night sky observation in the auditorium of the observatory.
-An indoor observation of the starry sky through the 16” telescope from the astronomical dome.
-An open-air observation of the night sky through the 12” telescopes situated on the terrace.
We are pleased to offer you a tour to the Mamalluca Observatory with transportation from La Serena city centre or from a meeting point in Pisco Elqui.
Note: Suitable for all ages.
Recommendations: we suggest you to have dinner before the tour and wear warm clothes.
Duration: approx. 3 hours.
-Regular tour departs everyday, all year long.
-Private tour departure schedule is coordinated previously with the passenger depending on their availability.
