The activity starts at 9:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center of Estancia Los Huemules. From there, following the Diablo River upstream, a 2-hour trek through a lush lenga forest along a well-maintained trail gives us access to the Laguna del Diablo (770 m above sea level), a place from which you can see the Cagliero Refuge, and from where the second stage of our excursion begins, outside of Estancia Los Huemules and inside a private property (Campo Gorra Blanca). The second part of our excursion consists of skirting the northern margin of the Laguna del Diablo through an easy terrain, but irregular until we reach the beginning of a VIA FERRATA (sectors of rock climbing of little difficulty that have previously been prepared with steel cables and artificial steps, so that passengers move independently and self-assured with harnesses and tapes specially designed for that purpose).
Before the beginning of this section, the guides will provide the necessary equipment to the participants and instruct them in the correct and safe use of it. The total route of this section is of 1 km, with 200 meters of unevenness, as the meters pass and they feel safe of the equipment, the crossing becomes more and more fun transforming this part of the activity in an excursion in itself The views of the Laguna del Diablo and the river valley of the same name will improve as we move upwards.
CLIMATE In South Patagonia the climate can change radically several times, which makes it possible to live the 4 seasons in the same day.
CLOTHING It is essential to use comfortable and warm clothing, jacket and wind-stopper pants and waterproof where possible. The clothing in several thin layers of coat is ideal to be protected from the cold and eventually change in case the temperature rises during the day. Gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and trekking boots.
