Overview

This island is connected to the continent by a Stone bridge that makes a very good connection to the continent, perfect for all the growing and harvesting mussels’ activities that exist here. The Calbuco city is part of the touristic places close to Puerto Montt, at the coast of Reloncavi Fjords, with beautiful and ever green islands closet to it, makes this part of Chile a wonderful and quiet place, that will take you 400 years back to the past, where the Torreon (vigilance tower) at La Picuta hill, remind us the place of the first Spanish settlement of the island. Well worthy it`s to visit the History Museum of Calbuco City, to have a complete vision of the history, religion and the sea culture of the inhabitants of Calbuco. The Saint Michael`s church, next to the main square, has a statue of St Michael brought on the year of 1602 by the Spanish expeditions during the conquest. From the Terrazas del Amanecer (dawn terraces) we will have the best views of the Pacific Ocean, then we will go to Caleta La Vega (fishermen’s cove) where the local market offers local products, that gives to visitants a great variety of seafood and agricultural flavors. Recommendations: Comfortable clothes and shoes, hat, sunblock, sunglasses and if it rains a water resistant jacket. Duration: 8 hours. -Regular tour departs everyday, all year long. -Private tour departure schedule is coordinated previously with the passenger depending on their availability.
