As you travel south along the scenic Golden Circuit, the journey dives deep into the region’s rich history. You will discover sacred basilicas, authentic yerba mate plantations, and the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Jesuit ruins of Trinidad and Jesús. Ending in the charming riverside city of Encarnación, this itinerary offers a perfect balance of culture, nature, and architectural marvels.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Asunción Arrival

    Welcome to Paraguay! At your arrival at Asunción Airport welcome and transfer to your hotel.
    Departure from your hotel at the indicated time, to take a complete tour of the city of Asunción in a private vehicle with a guide in your language, a city with a picturesque combination of modern and colonial architecture, including the city center and residential areas. We will visit the Independence House, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Railway Station, visiting the oldest steam locomotive in South America (entrance not included), the National Pantheon of Heroes, where the remains of the greatest heroes lie. of the History of Paraguay, Mariscal López Avenue, also known as the Avenue of the Embassies, ending at the popular La Recova artisan market. After the visit, return to your hotel.

  2. Day 2

    Asunción City tour & Ypacaraí Lake

    This tour will take you to the city of San Bernardino, wich is located by the famous lake Ypacarai. On our way to San Bernardino we will be visiting the followin cities: Luque: Established in 1636. Unmistakable signs of Luque are the gold and silver craftsmanship, leather and Karanda´y craftsmaship, music and the production of harps and guitars. Aregua: The distinctive landmarks of this pretty colonial towns are its beautiful and calm landscapes. The ko and chorori Hills. Tis craftsmanship in clay and the production of strawberry. Itagua: Establiched in 1728. This city is famous for its “ÑANDUTI” weave, a cobweb like lace (tablecloths, table covers, dresses, etc.) San Bernardino: Is the summer city par excelente Capiata: Its parish church is a jewel of he baroque art of the Franciscans. The Hand carved altar was recently restored.

  3. Day 3

    Asunción - Santa María de Fé Santa Maria Town

    Today we will explore more about the Golden Circuit. Departing from Asuncion, we will visit the church of Yaguarón, an 18th century Franciscan temple and we will continue towards the Paraguarí mountain ranges. In Paraguarí, a visit to the historical city of Piribebuy, continuing to the Basilica of Caacupé, where the Cathedral of the Patron Saint of all Paraguayans, the Virgen de Caacupé (Virgin of Caacupé). After visiting this town we will continue to San Ignacio Guazu and visiting its Jesuit Museam to end the day in Santa Maria Town.

  4. Day 4

    Santa María de Fé - Encarnación

    Embark on a captivating full-day private journey through Paraguay's rich Jesuit-Guaraní heritage, starting from Santa María de Fe and heading towards the picturesque town of Santiago de las Misiones to explore its deep colonial origins. Continue your route to San Cosme y Damián, a charming village nestled on the banks of the Paraná River, where you will walk its cobblestone streets and discover a historic Jesuit reduction that was largely reconstructed following a devastating fire. While there, you will also visit the Buenaventura Suárez Astronomical Interpretation Center and Planetarium to uncover the incredible legacy of an Argentine-born Jesuit who became one of the greatest astronomers of his time. Finally, your historical exploration concludes with a scenic drive to the peaceful riverside city of Encarnación, arriving just in time to unwind and take in a spectacular, fiery red sunset over the water.

  5. Day 5

    Encarnación

    Visit a local Yerbatera to learn about the Ilex paraguariensis plant. You should know that the history of the Jesuit missions in Paraguay is closely linked to the use of yerba mate. Then visits to the Jesuit reductions of Trinidad and Jesus. One of the most important constructions of the 30 Jesuit Towns in the region is the Guaraní Santísima Trinidad del Paraná Jesuit Mission. It presents a majesty and grandeur that symbolizes the culmination of the Baroque and is characterized by the replacement of wooden posts and frameworks with the use of stone ashlars. Without a doubt, the highlight is the incredible richness and variety of its ornamental remains sculpted in stone. The grandeur of the Plaza Mayor is also an indication of its significance as a center of demonstration of power, where army parades, large processions and theatrical and musical performances were held. As for the musical arts, Trinidad became a point of reference in choral matters.     Encarnación

    At the scheduled time pick up at your hotel and transfer to Posadas in Argentina.
