We will visit the TAHAI ceremonial site with 3 platforms, the AHU, with their restored statues. On this site you can also find the only Moai with eyes. We can also see the remains of a boat house, a stone chicken coop and a jetty completely built with stones. Then we will continue with our visit to the AHU AKIVI, a platform with 7 restored Moais. According to legend, these 7 statues represent the first explorers who arrived in Rapa Nui, sent by King Hotu Matua. Later we will visit the PUNA PAU quarry where the PUKAO or “headdresses” of the Moai.
