Overview
We will visit Lasana and Chiu Chiu, two altiplanic towns that are the gate to Alto El Loa. In Lasana you can visit the pucará with its pre-Inca buildings and in Chiu Chiu the town that was the administrative center of the Spanish colony with the oldest church in Chile.
The tour continues to the Andean Archaeoastronomy Observatory “Paniri Caur”, located half an hour from Calama.
It will be possible to observe the skies and learn about the Andean worldview of the Atacameños and the impact that the stars had on the entire way of living.
The astronomical tour includes an audio-visual talk and the observation of the classical and the indigenous constellations through star charts and a 14 ”telescope, to learn about the different types of stars and planets, and their location. We will make a retrospective journey towards the worldview of the Atacama peoples, framed in a unique and natural environment in the Atacama Desert.
Recommendations: bring a coat.
