Overview
Watching Southern Right whales (Eubalaena australis) from the beach at El Doradillo is a breathtaking experience that gives us the chance to see these giants of the sea at very little distance from the shore. Every year the area known as El Doradillo, situated 15 km/9 miles from Puerto Madryn, is the place chosen by many Southern right whale cows with their calves. Thanks to the calm waters and the unusual depth of the steep beach, the whales can get very close to the shore. The excursion is scheduled around the high tide, because of the higher probability to see these giants close by. The tour has an approximate duration of 2 to 3 hours and is operated June through September.
